19 year old Canadian songstress Avril Lavigne has been working hard on her forthcoming album entitled Under My Skin, due out on May 25th. The lady herself describes the album as "darker, moodier, deeper, more mature" and as Marilyn Manson was her influence for some of the tracks we can certainly believe her!

Hightlight of this year's Radio Music Awards was undoubtedly Beyonce Knowles performing her latest single Baby Boy in a ring of fire. The ceremony, held in the Aladdin Hotel Las Vegas, featured performances from different musical styles including rock, country and alternative. Avril Lavigne, nominated for 5 awards walked off with Best Song for Complicated and also performed at the ceremony.

Avril Lavigne has been concentrating on writing material for her follow up album to the successful Let Go and is currently recording in the studio in Los Angeles. The album is expected to be released in the spring. Meanwhile, Ms Lavigne's first DVD is due out in November with a bonus audio disc featuring cover versions she has previously showcased on tour.

Avril Lavigne's hit song from her Let Be album is to be made into a movie. The story will be based on the lyrics which tell the story of a preppy school girl who breaks up with her Sk8er Boi boyfriend who wears baggy clothes as he is not accepted by her friends. Years later when he is on MTV she looks back with regret at their break up. The soundtrack will be overseen by the Matrix team who co-wrote Sk8er Boi and who have also had a hand in the career of Robbie Williams and will be producing Britney Spears' upcoming album.

Avril Lavigne invited Limp Bizkit's front man Fred Durst to join her onstage to perform Complicated last week. Durst was wearing an I Love Avril tee shirt and Ms Lavigne jumped up on Fred's back for the last half of their duet. It wasn't long ago - January, in fact, when Mr Durst was linked to Britney Spears. After that he was asked to do some production work on her record. Maybe we'll see some musical collaboration between himself and Avril in the months to come?

2 songs co-written and performed by Kylie Minogue have been nominated in the PRS Most Performed Work category this year in the Ivor Novello Awards. They are Love At First Sight and In Your Eyes. Kylie's song Can't Get You Out Of My Head, written by Cathy Dennis and Rob Davis won the Dance award last year. In the International Hit of the Year category Robbie Williams' Feel goes up against Avril Lavigne's Complicated. In the Best Selling UK Single category Will Young faces Liberty X and Enrique Iglesias with his song Anything Is Possible. Winner will be announced at a ceremony in London on May 22nd.

Despite the lack of alcohol at this years Brits a fantastic time was had by all - winners, performers and audience alike. Kylie, wearing a revealing mini dress, dueted with former love of Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake. The Sugababes gave their all on a set design not unlike the classic movie Metropolis and Avril Lavigne tried for the record of how many drummers she could have backing her and still be heard. But what about the winners? Well, Robbie Williams beat Craig David to Best British Male Solo Artist for the 3rd year running and hinted in his video speech that he expected to repeat his success next year. The Sugababes were amazed and thrilled to win British Dance Act and Will Young collected his award for British Breakthrough Act sporting his longer, blonder hairdo. Other stars at the official post awards party were Fame Academy's David Sneddon and Sinead Quinn, and Atomic Kittens Liz and Natasha were seen dancing to Blondie songs.

As well as Best Pop Vocal Album for 'Let Go', her song 'Complicated' may take either the Song Of The Year or Best Female Pop Vocal Performance. Avril may also be named Best New Artist and is even competing for Best Female Rock Vocal Performance with her hit 'Sk8er Boi'.

She said that it analysed how different people were perceived by the way they dressed and their interests. Avril, a skater who sported baggy clothes, thought that she was looked down upon by the preppier kids.
