Located in the very heart of England, Birmingham International Airport is a great place to fly from for millions of English travellers.  Not only is the airport ideally situated near the country's second largest city, but it also has great road links so that it can be very easily reached from many other locations.  And with the opening of the new M6 Toll Road it's now even easier than ever to get to Birmingham Airport.

Whilst getting to the airport can be very easy when the road are quiet, as always travellers are advised to allow plenty of time for their journey.  The road network in this area can get very busy at rush hour, and some connections - e.g. the M42 from the East Midlands is a two lane motorway which can become congested very easily if there are road works, accidents or breakdowns.

Birmingham Airport Routes and Destinations

This sign which is right outside the main terminal shows distances to just a few of the many destinations that you can reach from Birmingham Airport.  The popular destinations for British weekend trips (Brussels, Amsterdam and Dublin) are clearly indicated. As well as these and many other international flights, Birmingham Airport also deals with many internal flights.  London is only a very short flight away so of course the airport is popular with business people who need to move quickly between England's two major cities.  With Birmingham hosting a number of unique venues, not least the NEC (National Exhibition Centre) there's a considerable rate of traffic between Birmingham and London.

About Birmingham International Airport

The two terminals at Birmingham form an L shape and the NCP short stay car park sits neatly inside the L, making it really easy for a quick stop to drop off or pick up passengers.  On its other two sides, the short stay car park is flanked by the conveniently located  Hilton Hotel and a new multi storey car park.  Alternatively, if you don't need to park you can keep to the left as you enter the airport and use the drop off area though of course you mustn't leave your vehicle unattended here.

In this same area the regular courtesy buses stop to drop off and pick up passengers who are travelling to the slightly more distant long stay car parks.
