PORSCHE BOXSTER INFORMATION
PORSCHE BOXSTER
Compared with the rest of the Porsche sports car
range, the most amazing thing about the Boxster S is the price.

OK
£38,000 isn't exactly a cheap car, but look at what you get for your
money; the heritage of one of the worlds greatest motor cars, and
for a fraction of the price.
The front end of the Boxster is almost identical to
the 911 apart from slightly different headlights and side
indicators. The cabin is to the same high standard, with exactly
the same controls and instruments, and from the driver's seat the view
is identical.
You might not get quite as much in the way of standard
trim, so most Boxster owners paying out the extra for the leather trim,
but all in all, it's a quality package for a very reasonable price.
Of course the 911 offers greater exclusivity and
greater power; considerably more power in some guises such as the
awesome new 911 GT3 RS. And other 911 variants have four seats and
the option of four wheel drive.
All this leads many to believe the popular quote that
"all Boxster owners want a 911". But that misses
the point by a mile - yes, quite a few Boxster owners would like a nine
eleven (as well), but despite sharing some common components, the simple
fact is they are very different cars. One is the ultimate everyday
supercar, and the other is the best, practical 2 seater sports car on
the market.
They have different prices, and to a large extent,
different markets - though of course we are in that ever growing band of
Boxster owners who wouldn't mind owning a 911 too.
